DKK’s Edits of Roman Thomas Posts
Jane here – with details about our Holland Sofa from Roman Thomas. A graceful design that echoes the 18thcentury canape, the Holland brings a note of clear, uncompromising refinement and exceptional new American seating to a modern room.
Produced in materials and by methods in the best upholstery-making traditions, the Holland’s construction begins with the hardwood frame, followed by hand-tied steel springs and horsehair, cotton, feather and down for the generous seat cushion. Each piece is completed with the Roman Thomas Holland turned leg, in mahogany, walnut or oak and capped with a signature turned brass foot, while the hand-picked edge that extends the entirety of the sofa is a clear example of the quality tailoring used in our bench-made manufacture.
In addition to the sofa, we produce the Holland occasional and side chairs with the same details and techniques. The entire Roman Thomas collection, including the Holland is made in New York City. As it happens, our workrooms are just across from the Onderdonk House – the city’s oldest Colonial Dutch home (1660). Drop me a line at () and we’ll plan a double tour! To the Trade.
Jane here – with a closer look at our Arne Chair, a graceful model which provides fineness of scale combined with exceptional comfort. Suitable for both contemporary and classic interiors, this is but one example of Roman Thomas’ transitional fine seating.
The Arne lines are especially sleek, with a foam core down-wrapped seat cushion and fine finished, turned and tapered legs. As expected, flawless hand sewn tailoring of the chosen fabric completes the chair. Like all Roman Thomas’ furnishings, the Arne Slipper is made in New York City at our own RTWORKROOMS. An example of exceptional new American seating, it combines form and function with finesse.
In addition to this armchair model, the Arne is offered as a slipper chair, a side chair for dining or desk, and as a sofa, all of which share similar refinement. Drop me a line at () to find out more: we’ll always have a seat for you. To the Trade.
